You can make a difference:
4 Ways to help the homeless in DuPage County
DuPage PADS started when a few people decided to do something. Our volunteers often find that they are the ones who are inspired and feel they receive far more than they give. We invite you to discover where you can serve.

1. Organize a donation drive
Want to get your youth group, business or civic club involved in helping end homeless in DuPage County? How about collecting items at your next party or celebration in lieu of gifts. We keep a running list of items that allow us to provide for the basic needs of homeless men, women and children (see the pdf list below).
Just use the list and collect items from friends, family and neighbors. Once your drive is complete bring them to our office. Email Ann Rowland for specific ideas and additional information on running your own donation drive.
2. Recycle your used clothes, shoes, blankets and sheets
Drop off your items at one of our local donation boxes. We get paid for all donations collected. Check out our box location list to find a location near you.
3. Volunteer in a DuPage PADS Interim Housing Site (Overnight shelter)
You sign up to serve in shifts and each shift has specific duties. Individuals are placed on an as needed basis. You must be 18 to serve. Young adults aged 12-17 may work if accompanied by an adult and they submit a Youth Policy Form completed and signed by their legal guardian. Start by visiting our volunteer profile page.
4. Create a volunteer Interest Form
We can use your talent and skill and it can make a difference. Review our complete volunteer opportunities to find a place. From serving as a volunteer at an upcoming event to becoming a mentor in our supportive housing and employment programs, there is something to fit your schedule. Not sure what to do? Just fill out the volunteer interest form.
