DuPagePads is Growing to Better Support Our Clients
The Client Service Center is the only daytime facility available for people who are homeless in DuPage County.
Here, families and individuals can work with their Case Manager on goal setting, planning and achievement. They can access services to address the root causes of homelessness, including basic needs assistance; groups, classes and workshops; linkages to medical, substance use and mental health services; access to laundry and shower facilities; and daily hot lunches. The Client Service Center also oversees the Family Outreach, Medical Respite, Housing Now and Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) programs.
Throughout the process of becoming a trauma-informed agency, the need for additional office and meeting space became apparent to provide the innovative support programming for our clients, such as health awareness groups, nutrition workshops, life enhancement skills workshops, employment readiness groups, mental health awareness groups and stress reduction activities such as our on-site musical workshop Harmony, Hope, and Healing to help transform lives.
Before the expansion, these groups and workshops took place in our main room; the noise, distractions and lack of full confidentially created a barrier limiting our clients trust to be open and honest sharing during these sessions.
More space, More Advantages for Clients
The Client Service Center expansion will have a state-of-the-art private group/workshop room and three new office spaces. The added privacy will allow group and workshop programming to be moved to a private space, and to ensure new and current staff have a confidential space to meet with clients one-on-one.
Construction began on May 17th and is expected to be completed in September.
Rik Alex, Owner of Alex Consulting, LTD. shares “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to assist in the expansion of the DuPagePads Client Service Center to better meet the needs of our homeless community and I am happy to begin the final phase of construction. When completed, this addition will provide the staff with additional space, flexibility and meeting confidentiality to expand services available to clients. It is a privilege and a pleasure to work with Carol Simler and her staff to provide this new building addition.”
