Overview of Adult Volunteer Opportunities

  • Interim Housing Site Monitor

    When: 365 nights a year; various shifts 9:00pm-5:00am

    Time Commitment Required: Monthly

    Location: Interim Housing sites throughout DuPage County

    Description:  Provide overnight volunteer support to ensure a safe environment for families and individuals to rest when they have no where else to turn. Responsible for actively monitoring the common areas: sleeping area, hallways, bathrooms; responding to client needs, emergencies, phone calls and insure clients are adhering to rules and regulations.

    • Client Service Center Supply Room Volunteer

      Days of the week: Tuesdays or Thursdays; 8:30am-11:30am

      Time Commitment: Weekly

      Location: Client Service Center, 703 W. Liberty Drive in Wheaton

      Description: Provide volunteer support at our Client Service Center in the Supply Room; sort and organize incoming donations and distribute donations to clients.

      Supply Room Volunteer

      • Volunteer Photographer

        The Volunteer Photographer will:

        • Provide their own camera and other photographic equipment
        • Follow DuPagePads policy and procedures for capturing, editing and storing photographs
        • Obtain Photo Release forms from all subjects and have good organizational skills and ability to catalog photographs
        • Involve volunteers and clients in the process of creating photographic opportunities
        • Share knowledge of photography and creative approaches
        • Maintain confidentiality and work sensitively with people being photographed
        • Good communication skills both written and verbal
        • Work flexibly, on own initiative and as part of a team

        Photographs will be exclusively used in DuPagePads materials, such as: website, leaflets, brochures, posters, social media platforms, reports and presentations, or news bulletins.

        • Special Volunteer Opportunities

          Days of the week: one-day events throughout the year

          Time commitment: 3 to 4 hours

          Location: Various locations throughout DuPage County

          Projects:

          • Assist DuPagePads with a variety of hands-on projects throughout the year.
          • In the past, these projects have included: DuPagePads Client Service Center Storage organization, DuPagePads Career/Employment Solutions Clothing Closet organization, Housing Holiday Meal in a Bag, Children’s Items Bags, etc.

          Events:

          • Assist DuPagePads at a variety of fund raising and special events throughout the year.
          • These events include: DuPagePads Run/Walk (September), Wake Up Your Spirit Breakfast (November), the Taste of Hope (March), Naperville Ribfest (July) and other community fundraising events for the agency.
