Mike and friends have decided to once again embark on this weight lifting adventure.

Volunteer Mike DeMeritt and friends are repeating their goal of lifting 100 tons in under 8 hours to benefit DuPagePads Annual Run 4 Home on Saturday, September 17 at CrossFit Carol Stream.

crossfit liftingSince 2010, Mike has challenged himself both athletically and philanthropically by running 100 miles for the first 4 years and then lifting 100 tons the past two years.  His efforts over the years have helped raise funds for DuPagePad’s housing programs and supportive services for families and individuals who are homeless.

For every mile or ton lifted, Mike’s goal was to raise $1.  Multiply $1 by 100 tons/miles and then again by 100 donors.   Over the course of 5 years, Mike has raised nearly $60,000 to benefit DuPagePads!  Mike plans on repeating his goal this year by raising $10,000!

Mike is seeking 100 generous donors to contribute $100 to reach his $10,000 goal.  If you’d like to help Mike, secure online donations can be made here:

To date, Mike has raised $2,375 in donations and hopes to reach more than his $10,000 goal in time for the DuPagePads 12thAnnual Run 4 Home, 10k and 5k Run, 5k Walk on Saturday, September 19.  Proceeds from the event will fund the agency’s solution to end homelessness, housing coupled with support services and employment which lead to improved health and economic sustainability.

Run 4 Home participants are encouraged to stop by CrossFit Carol Stream after the race awards to visit and cheer on Mike and his friends.

Mike’s continued support of our mission to end homelessness is truly inspirational.  His physically challenging fundraisers speak to his determination and dedication.  These are the same qualities needed in our work to assist families and individuals move to a place they can call home,” said Carol Simler, DuPagePads President and CEO.mike lift and friends 100 banner
