Meals and Volunteers Needed this Summer!
Summer is here and we need your help!
DuPagePads provides meals, overnight housing and safety 365 nights a year to families and individuals who are homeless, but summer is where we are most in need of meal donations and volunteers.
Do you have a company, service group or club that could provide hot dinners for one of our Interim (Overnight) Housing sites this summer?
Meals are most needed at our locations in the following towns:
- Oakbrook Terrace (50 people, Saturday nights)
- Wheaton (60 people, Monday nights)
Some groups bring prepared catering like pasta or chicken, or many larger groups coordinate to have each person bring a menu item to make a family style dinner.
The time commitment is flexible and would include whatever food preparation time you would need, with a drop off time of 5:30pm. If your group is interested in staying to serve, timing would be 5:30pm-8:30pm.
Groups have found the meal preparing to be a great team-building activity with the added benefit of making a difference. We hope you consider providing a meal to someone who is hungry and going through a difficult time in their life.
Individual Volunteers are also needed at the Interim (Overnight) Housing sites to help with a variety of shifts, especially overnight monitoring of the site. Click here to see a complete list of open shifts.

Planning on attending a festival? – Volunteer on behalf of DuPagePads and we will receive a portion of the proceeds from the event based on the number of volunteers we send.
Often volunteering at festivals has added perks like hearing live music, free admission after your shift, free t-shirts and more – one festival is left this summer:
- Naperville Jaycee’s Last Fling – September 4th -7th
