Mike & Friends Lift 500 Tons!
This past Saturday, September 12, Mike and Friends set out to lift 100 Tons in 8 hours at the CrossFit Carol Stream…in the first two hours they achieved it and set a new goal which they met: 500 tons or 1 million pounds!
With a goal to raise $10,000 for DuPagePads mission to end homelessness, Mike & Friends are so close to their goal, less than $1,500 away. Read Mike’s post-event report below or click here to help him reach his fundraising goal.

“To say it was a success would be a gross understatement. The second annual MIKE LIFTS 100 Tons began at CrossFit Carol Stream on schedule at 8am. The box (gym) was looking great. Coaches Jason Homesley and Mike Pajor were putting the finishing touches on. Hours before, members were getting food prepared. Mike Pajor had all the event’s details organized and we were ready to go.
The goal was to once again reach and surpass 100 tons. But this year it would be a group effort. Doctors’ orders. It didn’t take long before there were several lifters at all the stations. With the music blasting we began our lifts. Each participant had their own routine and selected weights along with a plan to get to their goal weights. There was an amazing spirit and sense of community.
I was amazed at how much fun we had doing so much work. When you know it’s all to help end homelessness in DuPage County, it’s hard to think of the work as a burden and feel sorry for yourself.
We had lots of friends and family stop by the event to watch, cheer, eat and play. The enthusiasm of the spectators and lifters was really impressive. We had CrossFit members putting up some impressive amounts of weight. I believe throughout the day we had over 20 serious lifters. At some point around 1:30 or 2pm we realized that at the rate we were going that with a strong push it was possible to get to 1 million pounds or 500 tons! So everyone increased their efforts and we hit 1 million pounds before 3pm. I was at 124,000 pounds or 62 tons and was told to stop because I already exceeded what the doc said I should do. Oops.
As for the funds raised, as of today, we are at $8,521. We still need another $1,500 to reach our goal of $10,000 by next Saturday September 19th.
If you are able and have not already done so, please help get us to our goal and invest in our community. If you know somebody else that may be interested in helping, please pass this along.
Thank you,
Mike”
