Every Penny Counts –
11-Year-Old Aidan’s Fundraising Success
11-year-old Aidan of Naperville has been attending DuPagePads Annual Run 4 Home for years.
Five years ago, he decided he wanted to be a fundraiser and decided to host a lemonade stand that year. It was such a success that he has held one every year since.
“I wanted to help the homeless children and families. My motto is: every penny counts,” Aidan shares.
This year’s lemonade stand added a bake sale consisting of sweet treats that he and friends prepared before the event.
“Our top seller was the chocolate dipped marshmallows. We also had brownies and a popcorn machine.”
For people unable to make it out to his stand, he had a fundraising page that was sent out to this family and friends which processed secure credit card transactions.
Last week, he stopped in to drop off his cash donations and reported that he had raised over $1,700. This is his most successful fundraising effort since he started and is currently in the lead to be the events top fundraiser.
Over the years, his lemonade stand has brought in over $5,000. This proves that people of all ages can be a fundraiser and help end homelessness.
Aidan says, “It can be hard work, but I enjoy seeing the results and meeting friendly people who want to help me make a difference.”
